HubTub Pulse · connector
Pulse for AI assistants
Connect HubTub Pulse to Claude or another AI assistant and ask about your YouTube channels in plain language. The connector is read-only.
HubTub Pulse is a free analytics app for YouTube creators and agencies: every channel you add shows its YouTube Analytics reports on one screen. Its connector lets an AI assistant you use read those reports when you ask it to, so you can ask what grew, what dropped, which videos earn the most and where viewers come from.
Connect
You need:
- a HubTub account (free; sign in with Google at app.hubtub.io) with at least one YouTube channel added to Pulse;
- an AI assistant that supports remote MCP connectors with sign-in, such as Claude.
In Claude:
- Open Settings → Connectors, choose Add custom connector and enter
https://app.hubtub.io/api/mcp(or add HubTub from the connector directory). - Claude opens HubTub: sign in with Google, check what the assistant will be able to read, and choose Allow access.
- Ask about your channels in a conversation, for example:
- “Why did watch time drop on my channel? Look at the last 90 days by day.”
- “What do my best videos of the last 28 days have in common?”
- “Compare my channels’ last 12 months: which months were best?”
- “Where do viewers stop watching my top video?”
- “Which of my videos get the most thumbnail clicks?”
Other assistants that support remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in connect the same way, with the same address.
Tools
All four tools only read. Each figure is YouTube’s own and belongs to one channel.
list_channels
The channels the assistant can read, each with its public counters (subscribers, videos, total views) and YouTube Analytics totals for the last 7 or 28 days beside the previous period. Parameter: period (7d or 28d).
get_channel_report
One channel’s report: totals for 7 and 28 days with the previous periods, the last 90 days by day, the last 12 months, the audience (countries, age and gender), traffic sources and content types for 28 days, the 50 most-viewed videos of 28 days (views, watch time, revenue, average view duration and percentage viewed, likes, comments, shares, subscribers gained, length and upload date) and the channel’s standing. Parameters: channel, and optionally sections to get only some parts.
get_video_retention
Audience retention for one of the channel’s 10 most-viewed videos of 28 days: 100 points through the video with YouTube’s audience watch ratio and relative retention performance. Without a video, the videos that have a curve. Parameters: channel, video (its id, link or title).
get_thumbnail_impressions
Thumbnail impressions and YouTube’s click-through rate by video and day, for up to the last 30 days. Without a video, the 50 videos with the most impressions. Parameters: channel, video.
What it reads
- Only the reports Pulse already keeps: the connector never sends a request to YouTube itself, and Pulse refreshes the reports once a day. YouTube’s figures settle about two days late, so each report says the last day it covers.
- Estimated revenue only where the channel’s owner gave HubTub the revenue permission, and the standing only with the audit permission.
- Retention curves and thumbnail impressions are fetched only for channels an assistant reads: the curves from the next nightly refresh, impressions about two days after that (from YouTube’s daily reach reports), with the 30 days before.
It never:
- changes anything in Pulse, in your HubTub account or on YouTube;
- gets your Google account, your password or Google’s access to your channels;
- reads anything else in your HubTub account, such as payouts or contracts.
Shared channels
The assistant reads the channels you added to Pulse yourself. A channel someone shares with you, directly or through a Pulse team, is included only if its owner allowed AI assistants: on the channel’s page in Pulse, when accepting an invitation, or for all their channels in a team at once. Being a team’s owner doesn’t open other people’s channels to your assistant.
Privacy and security
- You approve each assistant on a HubTub page. Sign-in uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE; access tokens last an hour, and the assistant never sees your HubTub or Google password.
- See and disconnect your assistants at any time in Pulse → Connected AI; a disconnected assistant loses access at once, and one not used for 90 days is disconnected by itself.
- When your assistant asks for a report, HubTub sends it to the assistant’s provider, which handles it under its own terms. Check your assistant’s settings to see whether conversations are used to train its models.
- For security, HubTub keeps a record of each connection and request (which tool, which channel, when) for 90 days.
Details: Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Troubleshooting
- “No channels yet”: add a channel in Pulse at app.hubtub.io/dashboard/pulse, or ask the owner of a shared channel to allow AI assistants.
- “Not refreshed yet”: a newly added channel gets its first report within a day.
- No retention curves or impressions yet: they arrive with the next nightly refresh and, for impressions, about two days after.
- The assistant can’t connect any more: remove the connector in your assistant and add it again, then sign in.
